Safety

October 21 2008   NEWSFLASH
RECALL - Cribs Manufactured by Delta.
Several of our cribs contain the hardware described in the recent recall announced today.
View recall here. Please be reassured that we have been aware of this potential safety concern since we initially began using these cribs and checking the functionality of this hardware is part of our standard inspection which takes place prior to each rental. It is also inspected by our delivery personnel upon assembly.

This recall involves the malfunction specific type of hardware connecting the side panels to the headboard and foot board and supports the sliding function of the side panels. The malfuntion can ONLY occur upon assembly or disassembly of the crib - NOT while it is in use.

If you have any questions about this recall or our equipment or safety procedures, please contact us. We would love to talk with you about the extra measures we take to ensure the safety of the safety of the children we serve.

Rest assured that the safety of the children we serve is always our FIRST PRIORITY.

Concerned About Safety? So are we.

Your childrens' safety while away from home is the primary concern at Bringing Baby. In February 2000, the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the SAFE KIDS Campaign found that
82 percent of the hotel and motel cribs inspected had at least one safety hazard; and that 52 percent of the play yards and mesh cribs had at least one safety hazard. In addition many were not maintained properly or had been recalled. Unfortunately, the problem persists. Many news programs have conducted their own special investigations, including Dateline NBC and an NBC affiliate right here in Maryland less than a year ago. In each instance, the investigators found significant safety hazards in the overwhelming majority. The hazards in the use of second-hand, used or borrowed equipment, are too numerous to mention.

To protect the children it serves, Bringing Baby provides rental equipment which is new each year and exceeds standards set by the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA). All rental car seats have received an overall grade of “A” by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. All equipment meets or exceeds federal standards. Each piece of equipment is properly maintained, cleaned and sanitized, and undergoes a strict safety inspection before it is delivered.

At Bringing Baby, we provide only items which represent the quality, cleanliness, and safety standards we would want our own children using. Items which do not meet our standards are immediately removed from inventory.  There are several things which we will not provide under any
circumstances, including Bumper pads, Sleep Positioners, Walkers, Infant Sling Carriers, and Baby bath seats.  Also, we will confirm that the appropriate equipment is used in some situations, and will require additional information regarding your child's age, weight, and height in order to permit your use of some of our items. We do understand that our customers are cost-conscious, however, please understand that we will not permit the rental of age-, weight-, or height- inappropriate items.
